Safety Policy

Your pet’s safety and well-being are our top priority.

At Lily’s Pet Services, we understand that trusting someone with your home and your beloved pet requires complete confidence. That is why we operate with strict safety protocols, full insurance, and a professional team dedicated to high standards of care.

1. Professional Standards & Team Vetting

  • Vetted & Trained Team: All team members are thoroughly vetted and trained to provide the same high standard of care.
  • First Aid Certified: Our team is fully First Aid & CPR certified, ensuring we can respond effectively in an emergency.
  • Fully Insured: We are fully insured to cover incidents or issues that may arise during our service. Proof of insurance is available upon request.

2. Home Security & Confidentiality

  • Key Security: If we hold your house keys, they are used strictly for agreed access by authorised team members and handled with robust security protocols to protect your home’s privacy.
  • Strict Confidentiality: We protect all client personal information. Your details are securely stored whilst in use and disposed of appropriately when no longer needed.
  • Discreet Presence: We respect your privacy. Any visits by third parties (friends or family) during house sits are only permitted with your explicit prior consent.

3. Safe Walking Protocols

  • Assessment First: All new dogs are initially walked on a long line to safely assess recall and behaviour before any off-lead walking is considered.
  • Off-Lead Safety: Dogs are only walked off-lead in safe environments once they demonstrate reliable recall, and only with your written consent.
  • Weather Awareness: During extreme weather (such as high summer temperatures), we adjust walks to ensure safety—using shaded routes, providing fresh water, and modifying walking times.
  • Pack Safety: We carefully manage pack dynamics. Walk durations include pick-up and drop-off times to ensure dogs are not in transit longer than necessary.

4. Health & Emergency Care

  • Medical Awareness: We require full disclosure of health and behaviour information to ensure we can care for your pet safely.
  • Medication Administration: We are experienced in administering medication. Detailed records of dosage, frequency, and instructions are kept to ensure your pet’s health routine is followed precisely.
  • Veterinary Emergencies: In the event of a medical emergency, we will attempt to use your designated vet. If immediate attention is required, we will use the closest available veterinary service to ensure your pet receives prompt care.

5. Specialised Care for Vulnerable Pets

Behavioural Management: We collect detailed information on your dog’s behaviours—including fears, anxieties, and triggers—to help our team manage them safely and positively.

Tailored Support: For young, senior, or anxious pets, we offer specialised care plans that reduce the time they are left alone (e.g., maximum 2-hour intervals instead of the standard 4 hours) to ensure their comfort and safety.
